Tabby - a text editor for android

Just the minimum

I keep my notes as plain text markdown files. They sync between my desktop and phones with syncthing.

However, once on device, I didn't find the perferct editor for my needs, something with strictly only what I need.

Tabby is a text editor that lets you open local text files, modify them and close them.

It asks for no permissions and has no settings. It takes almost no space on your device once installed (500kb). It has only one mode, plain text editing. It does not have syntax highlighting. It will open any text-ish file you throw at it.

Avoiding conflicts

There's only an edit mode, that tries to keep the content of the file and a textarea in sync.

You change are autosaved after 2s without editing.

The content of the editior is refreshed when you leave the app and come back to it.

You can open multiple files as tab, but you're really just editing one at a time, as your changes are saved if you leave a tab for another.

Usage

Click the + button to pick a file to edit, it will open as a tab. Edit your file, it will be saved automatically. Long press a tab to close it.
